Children's Board of Hillsborough County” |

The
Children's Board of Hillsborough County has been serving
the Tampa Bay area for 20 years now. They recieve money
from home-owners tax dolllars which they use to fund
different programs and organizations like the Boys and
Girls Club. The Board also funds seven Family Support
and Resource Centers throughout the county. Come
out to their birthday party and celebrate 20 years
of service with the Children's Board on Saturday, April
26 at 10:00 AM in Ybor City, 1002 East Palm Ave. Tampa
FL 33605.

About Florida Focus |
 |

Florida Focus is a 90-second newsbreak produced by students and members of the faculty and staff in the School of Mass Communications at the University of South Florida. The studio for the newsbreak is housed in The School of Mass Communications, a modern facility located in the heart of Tampa, Florida's largest media market. Developed in 1996 Florida Focus first aired in January 1997. In its 10 year history Florida Focus has had a series of growing pains. more

Dr. Marie
Curkan-Flanagan
Marie Curkan-Flanagan, an experienced broadcast journalist, is a faculty member of the School of Mass Communications. Before completing a doctorate at the University of Tennessee, Flanagan worked as a broadcast journalist for more than 27 years in cities such as Hartford, Boston, Philadelphia, Minneapolis, Oklahoma City and Las Vegas. more |

Neil Vicino
Neil Vicino is in his 23rd year as adjunct faculty in the School of Mass
Communications. Neil teaches Broadcast News and TV News and serves as
news director for Florida Focus one semester a year. Neil also developed the Multi-media Journalism course in 2001, which is now a popular selective course in the School of Mass Communications. more |

Steve
Mutimer
Steve Mutimer is a broadcast engineer and media lab manager for the USF School
of Mass Communications. He previously worked in many capacities on various productions from cable sports events to PBS documentaries and weekly PBS series productions. He is also USF alumni, class of 1984.Steve designed and built the digital control room where Florida Focus originates. |

Clyde McCain
Clyde McCain has been in broadcast TV from 1969 to 2003 (34 years non stop). He has been working with Florida Focus since around 1998. He currently also works with USF Engineering (APEX: Academic & Professional Engineering Excellence) as a production supervisor. He also runs Media Production Design Group, Inc., with his partner Dr. Tom Terrell. |

Vanessa
Moorer
Vanessa Moorer is
a native of Tampa, Florida. She is a senior at
the
University of South Florida majoring in Tele-communications
and Africana Studies. Vanessa is interested in
pursuing a career with a news magazine like Dateline
or in local television news. She is excited to
be a part of
Florida Focus. |

Kevin
Smetana
Kevin Smetana is a senior
majoring Mass
Communications. His goal is to be a sports reporter
at a local news station, but he has experience writing
for print and shooting video, so he is excited for
any opportunity out of college to start a career in
the mass media industry. Kevin resides in Brandon and
has always lived in the Tampa Bay area.

Jessica Lulgjuraj
Jessica Lulgjuraj was born in Detroit,
Michigan and moved to St.
Petersburg at a young age. She will graduate from USF
with a degree in broadcast news in May 2008. From a
young age she has expressed an interest in all media
outlets and her ultimate goal is to become an anchor
in a major market. |

Carly Bryant
Carly Bryant is a Senior
at USF majoring in Telecommunications with a specialty
in Broadcast News. She has always been interested
in news and reporting, but her real passion is sports.
Her career goals are to continue her education and
persue a career as a sports broadcaster after graduation.
