USF's Charit-A-Bull
While the USF Bulls' football team may have lost the homecoming football game, some USF students—and more importantly, the clients of Metropolitan Ministries—were the big winners in the sixth annual "Charit-A-Bull." University Beat paid a visit to the opening event of "SuperBull Eleven" Homecoming week, where student groups collected canned goods, built sculptures out of them, and then donated the food to the Bay area hungry and homeless.

November 12, 2007 : Binge Drinking
 
Studies show that as many as half of US college students engage in "binge drinking," where they consume at least four alcoholic drinks in a short time. University Beat visited a recent symposium on USF's campus where educators worked with officials from local law enforcement and health agencies to let students know about the dangers of such behavior.

USF's School of Physical Education is now the home of the XRKade Research Lab, where researchers will look at interactive video games like "Dance Dance Revolution" and similar technology-based interactive activities to see what kind of effects they have on children's physical fitness.

FACTors, which stands for "Fighting Against Cancer Together," recently held its 20th annual conference, where over 500 people gathered for a day of education, information and inspiration. USF Professor Robin Murphy, the director of the Center for Robot Assisted Search & Rescue, recently returned from Utah, where she had the sad mission of assisting in the search for six miners trapped in the Crandall Canyon mine.
