Florida Matters: January 20th, 2006 "End-of-Life Care"

End-of-Life CareThe bitter division over the care of Terry Schiavo exploded from the confines of her family onto the national and global stage. The case touched politics, law, medicine, the media and the court of public opinion.

It's been almost a year since Schiavo died, and over 30 years since our society first started struggling with making rules on dying. How far have we come? And did the Schiavo case help us reach consensus, or just muddy the waters?  We'll try to better understand the state of end-of-life care.

Our guests are:

  • Dr. Art Caplan, a professor of bioethics at the University of Pennsylvania and an MSNBC contributor

  • Monsignor Frank Mouch of the Roman Catholic Diocese of St. Petersburg

  • Dr. Jay Wolfson, a lawyer and a professor of public health at USF

Join Robin Sussingham for Florida Matters, Friday, January 20th, at 6:30 pm and Saturday, January 21st, at Noon on WUSF 89.7, Your NPR Station.
