Florida Matters: "Preparing for a Pandemic: Is Florida at Risk?"
(June 9th, 2006)
Avian flu H5N1 is one of the most highly pathogenic viruses the world has seen. The virus has sickened at least 224 people in 10 countries, killing 127 of them, but it remains a pandemic in birds, not humans. Is Tampa Bay prepared in the event of a health crisis? Our panel of experts share information every Floridian needs to know.
Listen now.
Our guests include:
Dr. Daniel Haight, Infectious disease specialist and Director of the Polk County Health Department
Dr. Jacqueline Cattani, Professor of public health and director of the USF Center for Biological Defense
Dr. David Stallknecht, Professor of wildlife infectious diseases at the University of Georgia.
