This is a sub-carrier receiver, a
custom radio needed to hear the WUSF Radio Reading Service.
Anyone can listen to the WUSF Radio Reading Service, by tuning in to WUSF-TV, Channel 16, and selecting the SAP option on the remote control menu.

To turn off the Secondary Audio Program (SAP) channel, access your audio menu while tuned to WUSF-TV. Navigate to the SAP option and then select "off ", "no", or whatever option is appropriate to deselect the SAP mode.

Listeners who are print disabled (blind, visually impaired, physically disabled, or who have a reading disability) are eligible to receive a specially tuned, low-frequency radio receiver, at no charge, from the Radio Reading Service. The Library of Congress estimates that 1.5 percent of the US population are print disabled.

To receive the low-frequency radio receiver, it is necessary to complete an application. Click Here, to access an on-line Radio Reading Service Listener Application, or call RRS at 813-974-8635, or from anywhere in Florida, at 1-800-444-4193.

If you currently participate with the Division of Blind Services or the Talking Book Program, you automatically qualify for Radio Reading Service. Otherwise, we will require information enabling RRS to document eligibility for receipt of the free radio receiver.
