Dr. Robin Murphy, the Director of the Institute for Safety Security Rescue Technologies on the Tampa campus of USF, recently brought her robots to Louisiana and Mississippi to assist in the search and rescue efforts after Hurricane Katrina. Topic: Athletic Heat Illness

September 11th, 2005

In a follow up to last week's report on USF's new "Sports Medicine Institute," University Beat takes a look at one of the Institute's first projects, a "heat pill" that was tested on the USF football team during pre-season practice. Trainers use the pill to quickly check players' core temperatures and hopefully prevent heat stroke or other illnesses that could prove fatal. Listen Now.
