The television version of University Beat airs at different times throughout the broadcast day on WUSF TV.
“The growing popularity of the University Beat radio program over the past six years led to WUSF’s decision to expand the successful series to television,’’ says Diane Egner, content director at WUSF Public Broadcasting. “University Beat on television will further help WUSF viewers understand and appreciate the University of South Florida’s significant contribution to the greater community.’’
The first segment, which debuted Monday, March 26, features University of South Florida President Judy Genshaft talking about the regional economic impact of the University and its branch campuses.
University Beat highlights leading efforts in research, education, science, art and culture centered around the University of South Florida community.

Obesity Summit
USF recently hosted a one day "Obesity Action Summit," bringing together over 250 stakeholders — legislators, researchers, employers and health trainers — to put together a plan to take on obesity. Attendees heard presentations from former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee and other speakers concerned with a problem that affects as much as two-thirds of the American population. The summit's goal was to come up with ways to help people already affected as well as deter future generations from becoming obese.
