Bill Draft Underway to Reform Early Voting in Florida

After Florida took four days to count all of its election ballots, officials are scrambling to change voting procedures.
State Representative Darryl Rouson from St. Petersburg announced legislation today that would reform election statutes in Florida. "It's a shame that the governor has said that we did the right thing. We did not do the right thing," said Rouson, "we need to go back to pre-2011, pre-house bill 1355, and create the opportunities for people to exercise the most basic democratic right."

Suicide Prevention Workshop
It’s an eye-opening statistic: suicide is the third leading cause of death for young people between 15 and 24.
To help recognize the warning signs and prevent youth suicide, USF’s Department of Child and Family Studies recently presented a workshop for school administrators and other mental health care providers. This week’s University Beat on WUSF 89.7 looks at the community approach these researchers recommend.
