Constantina Rhodes, "Encountering Lakshmi"

7:00pm – 8:30pm

On the new moon in late autumn, millions throughout India and beyond celebrate Diwali, the gorgeous festival of lights, by worshiping the bright, beautiful, auspicious Lakshmi, goddess of prosperity. What is the Hindu understanding of wealth and what does it mean to invoke its embodiment as a goddess? Is the worship of prosperity a material undertaking? An esoteric one? The answers may surprise you. This year Diwali falls on Tuesday, November 13. Join Constantina on this auspicious date for a fun and insightful evening of lecture, discussion, reunion, and book- signing. Sponsored by the Center for Spiritual Life Burchenal Lecture Series.
