Florida Craftsmen Presents
CraftArt 2014
Downtown St. Petersburg, November 22 & 23
Florida Craftsmen’s 17th Annual CraftArt Festival will be held on Saturday, November 22nd & Sunday, November 23rd, just outside the doors of Florida Craftsmen Gallery, at the crossroads of Central Avenue and Fifth Street in beautiful Downtown St. Petersburg.

CraftArt 2014 is an invitation to out-of-town and local visitors to make November 22nd & Sunday November 23rd a fun-filled Florida weekend. Visitors will be delighted by the work of 110 of the nation’s best contemporary craft artists, artist demonstrations, food trucks, craft beers and the best cultural venues on the west coast of Florida. Florida Craftsmen is proud to announce that this year’s juror is Kate Lydon, the Director of Exhibitions at the Society for Contemporary in Pittsburgh, PA. She will award $10,000 in cash awards to the artists.

For the seventh year, CraftArt, a juried fine craft art festival, will be held in the heart of the Central Arts District in front of Florida Craftsmen Gallery, located at 501 Central Avenue in downtown St. Petersburg. This 2 day festival kicks off the Holiday shopping season and takes advantage of the great Florida fall weather. One of the most eagerly anticipated arts events each year by collectors and patrons as well as by locals and visitors who plan a long weekend around the show, CraftArt features some of the nation’s best established and emerging fine craft artists with handmade works in clay, fiber, glass, jewelry, metal, paper and mixed media. The weekend will include artist demonstrations, make and take activities and craft beer from one of Tampa Bay’s local micro-breweries.

CraftArt is only the beginning. “For the second year, we will continue to showcase the talents of Emerging artists with the support of the DMG School Project as we engage the next generation of Fine Craft Artists. St. Petersburg continues to support a vibrant Arts community through its galleries, artist studios, museums and murals. We’re excited to bring the country’s finest contemporary craft artists to the “best” coast for the 17th Annual CraftArt Festival” says Diane Shelly, Florida Craftsmen’s Executive Director.

If you are a fine craft artist interested in participating in CraftArt 2014, go to www.zapplication.org to apply. Participating out-of-town artists may take advantage of reduced rates at nearby lodging specially negotiated by Florida Craftsmen for the weekend of CraftArt 2014.
