Florida Matters: Renewal in Downtown St. Petersburg
This special show, taped on location at the Saturday Morning Market, is just one sign of the renaissance in St. Petersburg’s downtown. Host Carson Cooper discusses the new life downtown with Mayor Bill Foster, business owners, and community leaders.
The city was co-founded by John C. Williams, formerly of Detroit, who purchased the land in 1876, and by Peter Demens. St. Petersburg was incorporated on February 29, 1892. It was named after Saint Petersburg, Russia, where Peter Demens had spent half of his youth.
