"Beasts of the Southern Wild" - Directed by Benh Zeitlin (English, 93 minutes, 2012, 35mm screening). The first feature from director Benh Zeitlin and starring newcomer Quvenzhané Wallis, "Beasts of the Southern Wild" plunges the spectator into the lush and brutal world of six-year-old Hushpuppy, a resident of a ramshackle bayou community threatened by melting polar ice caps and her father's fading health. Shot on Super 16mm, "Beasts" won the Camera d'Or at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival and the Cinematography and Grand Jury Prize at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.
