This week on Saturday Night Jazz With Bob Seymour

Jazz in the 60's
Golden Anniversary Jazz: The Sound of 1965

The mid-60s was a vibrant time for jazz listeners, with veteran musicians and relative newcomers making great sounds, in the studios and on live recordings. We’ll go back 50 years, to 1965, this Saturday night. It was the year of John Coltrane’s ‘A Love Supreme,’ and Herbie Hancock’s ‘Maiden Voyage.’ In addition to those classics, we’ll hear Ella Fitzgerald sing the Johnny Mercer Songbook, Monk playing solo, and Blue Mitchell’s band including Chick Corea, playing ‘March on Selma.’

January 31, 2015 On WUSF 89.7, Your NPR Station.
