Jazz at Two Presents the Marc Maninno Jazz Quartet
The Jazz Club of Sarasota's "Jazz at Two" 2012-2013 concert series continues with the Terry Myers Quartet (December 7, 2012); the Billy Marcus Trio (December 21, 2012); and Marc Maninno (December 28, 2012). The series, which was founded in 2001, showcases the region's top jazz performers on Fridays, 2-4 p.m., at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Sarasota, 3975 Fruitville Road, Sarasota. Tickets are $7 for Jazz Club members and $12 for non-members. A portion of ticket sales is directed to the Jazz Club's scholarship program. For more information, call 941-366-1552.
The Marc Maninno Jazz Quartet appears on December 28 at 2 p.m. The quartet consists of Marc Maninno on guitar, George Mancini on trombone, John Miller on bass and Bob Lunergan on drums. Maninno is the director of jazz studies at State College of Florida and also teaches jazz guitar, jazz history, and jazz improvisation there. He is also the conductor of the SCF Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo. Maninno freelances Florida, performing as a solo classical and jazz guitarist at weddings, special events and for area theaters.
The Jazz Club of Sarasota's mission is to promote, preserve, and educate people about jazz, the original American art form. Founded in 1980 by the late Hal Davis, the club presents ongoing concert series, events, lectures and the annual Sarasota Jazz Festival.
