Welcome to the Jazz Corner of our new WUSF website -- and many thanks for such a wonderful show of support during our Fall Membership Campaign!
With the ‘season’ upon us, the opportunities to enjoy live music are more abundant, and we’ll be telling you about them during our nightly jazz programs. The efforts of all the area’s non-profit jazz societies – the Jazz Club of Sarasota, the Al Downing Tampa Bay Jazz Association, the Tampa Jazz Club, and the Suncoast Dixieland Jazz Association – along with venues such as the Palladium in St. Petersburg, add so much to our cultural life. The only thing better than hearing jazz on the radio is getting together to hear it in live performance.
In early October on Saturday Night Jazz, it was a real treat to welcome my old friend Chuck Owen, and debut the terrific new release by the Jazz Surge. If you missed it, check out our conversation
here.
I hope you’ll check back often for updates on what’s happening in jazz, and please get back to me with your information, too. And as always, thanks for listening, and for supporting WUSF!
