Dick Cheney Blasts Terrorists at Campaign Appearance
Dick Cheney made a lunchtime appearance today at the Wyndham Westshore Hotel to help raise money for the campaign of Gus Bilirakis. The state House member is running for the Congressional seat now held by his father, Mike.
Bilirakis faces a Democratic Challenge by former Hillsborough County Commissioner Phyllis Busansky. One sign how much Republicans want to keep the seat is the visit by the vice president.
Mr. Cheney railed against flagging support for the battle in Iraq, and implicitly backed Israel in its campaign against threats from Hezbollah.
CHENEY: All you need to do is to look at the headlines every morning to see that terrorism is a persistent threat in our world, and any nation that is under attack must have the right to defend itself and to go after the aggressor.
The vice president also attacked the New York Times for disclosing a secret campaign to track the financial trail left by possible terrorist groups.
