Poll: Sen. Nelson Continues to Pull Away From Harris
The poll by Connecticut-based Quinnipiac University was taken before Monday's televised debate between Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson and Republican challenger Katherine Harris. Pollster Peter Brown says it shows Nelson's lead among virtually every major demographic group is getting larger.
BROWN: Nelson's getting a third of the Republican vote, he's getting two-thirds of the independent vote, he's getting more than nine out of every ten Democrats, Nelson is ahead everyplace. Even in the Panhandle. She's not even competitive in the Panhandle.
Brown says nearly half of all voters who described themselves as 'white, evangelical born-again' plan to support Nelson. He says when almost a majority of what should be Harris' natural base plans to vote against her, the race is just about over.
