Moffitt Cancer Center Looks for Room to Expand
In the 20 years since Moffitt Cancer Center opened its doors, the center has grown in both prestige and size and is now rapidly outgrowing its facility at the University of South Florida.
USF President Judy Genshaft sees the growth as a very positive development.
GENSHAFT: Moffitt is expanding and USF is growing and the land is not. So, for them to look for additional land makes a lot of sense.
Moffitt's Chief Operating Officer Nick Porter says the center is considering all options in its search for suitable location.
PORTER: The proximity is very important to us overall so we are trying to find land that is as close as possible to our campus here on USF.
After the site is selected, Porter says the project will take shape over the next 10 to 15 years.
