USF, Tampa General Get $6 Million Gift

TAMPA -

Les and Pamela Muma met and married while they were students at USF.

Now they have retired and returned to Tampa, and this week presented USF and Tampa General Hospital a gift of $6 million for an expanded Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. With matching funds. the donation will total $14 million.

Thirty-three years ago, the Mumas lost a baby daughter a few days after her premature birth. USF President Judy Genshaft says the Muma's gift will help ensure that other sick babies will get the medical help they need.

GENSHAFT: Their goal is for any newborns from anywhere in the state, outside of the state, to be flown in for immediate intensive care to save these babies.

The donation will fund neonatal research at USF, build new, state of the art, labs and allow TGH to double the size of its neonatal unit.
