Holiday Highway Deaths
The Florida Highway Patrol says it has been a dangerous holiday on the roads. So far, 13 people have died in eight separate traffic crashes during the 72-hour Christmas holiday period.
Ten of the fatalities occurred at night and none of the crashes were classified as alcohol related. Six of the people killed were not wearing seat belts.
The fatality number is down from last year. Nineteen fatal crashes occurred during last year's holiday season, which starts December 23 and ends on December 25 at midnight.
