Crist Takes Office, Pledges Open Government

Charlie Crist
TALLAHASSEE -

Gov. Crist began his inauguration speech by praising his predecessor, Jeb Bush.

But he referenced another Republican leader to set the tone for his administration.

CRIST: We must continue to strive to put government in the service of the people, of the people, by the people, for the people. Powerful words of Abraham Lincoln. Our constitution requires that our government be open and transparent and under my administration it will be like never before.

Gov. Crist says he will issue an executive order creating an office of open government and institute a code of ethics for the executive branch.
