Tampa Mayor Iorio Wants Another Term
Tampa mayor Pam Iorio says she's running again because she likes to get things done.
There was no hesitation when she was asked to recount her accomplishments as mayor.
IORIO: In the past four years we've seen tremendous changes. Our downtown is bursting at the seams with construction, dotted with cranes, condominiums being built and many more slated. We've seen a lot of neighborhood improvements, our crime rate is down 29 percent, we've put so much more into the neighborhoods, particularly with storm water improvements.
Iorio says transportation will be a major focus of a second term. Earlier this year, she called for the city to move forward with plans for a commuter rail system.
Three other candidates have filed to run for mayor. One of them is a Tampa police captain. The election will be held March 6.
