Tampa Hosts Muslim Olympics

A few years ago, the Muslim American Society of Tampa started an athletic competition. Youngsters, teens and adults from a few Florida cities gathered once year to compete in team sports.

A few weeks ago, Tampa hosted the Fifth Annual M.A.S. Olympics. The games have grown to include players from out-of-state and by some accounts may be the largest Muslim organized athletic event in the U.S.

In all, teams came from 20 different cities to the Tampa games which were open to all faiths. Close to 900 participants competed in soccer, flag football, volleyball and basketball.
