Wikipedia Faces Competition

St. Petersburg based Wikipedia has some credibility problems. That's the view of the online encyclopedia's co-founder Larry Sanger. Several major companies, including Microsoft agree. Microsoft has even tried to hire a Wikipedia fact checker to monitor the software company's entries.

The appeal of Wikipedia, its supporters say, is that anyone can be an encyclopedia contributor. Now a new online encyclopedia called Citizendium is about to launch. It will have greater oversight and control by subject experts. Is a Wiki war at hand?
