Senate Presents Tax Plan
![]() |
The Senate proposal includes a tax rate rollback to 2005 levels. The plan would also cap future local government spending. Also, homeowners could take the Save Our Homes tax cap with them when they move.
The Senate plan would also change how property is assessed in order to reduce taxes. Meanwhile, the House plan would abolish at least some - and possibly all property taxes on homesteads, or primary homes.
To make up some of those lost revenue, the House would increase the statewide sales tax. The Senate's plan calls for no tax increases.
