Students' Legislation Passes
![]() |
Jonathan Porat is a senior at Hillsborough High School in Tampa and the co-author of a bill that was just passed by lawmakers in Tallahassee. The measure is called the 'High School to Business Career Enhancement Act.' Jonathan is taking part in the 'Ought to be a Law' program -- which aims to get students involved in government by competing to write a law. A team of the top students then lobby for that winning student bill. The program is sponsored by Representative Kevin Ambler of Lutz and Tampa Senator Victor Crist. Jonathan visited with WUSF Morning Edition Host Carson Cooper to explain the bill and why it 'ought to be a law.'
