Climate Change: A Revolution Required
![]() |
Florida's top scientists are considering how to mitigate and adapt to climate change. The man who helped negotiate the global ban on CFCs says it won't be easy and may require a revolution.
The idea is to try and come together on the unique challenges Florida faces due to climate change like rising sea levels and to make recommendations for what to do next.
Retired U.S. Ambassador Richard Benedick was the lead negotiator for President Ronald Reagan when countries came together to ban CFCs that were depleting the ozone.
Benedick says an even larger effort - akin to a technology revolution - is needed to decrease greenhouse gases while meeting growing energy demands.
