TAMPA (2007-05-09) Next week, the Ringling Museum of art joins a growing number of museums that are taking advantage of low cost alternatives to the traditional audio wands that have been the prominent walking tour device for decades.
All over the country, companies are racing to find new and attention grabbing ways of delivering facts to information-hungry tourists and in the process are saving hundreds of thousands of dollars.
As the Ringling Museum pioneers the use of iPods to reach their visitors, other museums and cities are using web downloads, podcasts, and even cell phones to keep their visitors engaged.
The Ringling Museum of Art's new audio tour starts May 16.
