Young Composer Wins

Sarasota native Roger Zare has been a musician for most of his life. He won first prize at the 2001 Florida Orchestra's Young Artists Competition performing a Chopin piano sonata. This month, the recent USC grad won the 2007 BMI student composer award for his work, 'Green Flash.' Zare joined WUSF's Susan Giles Wantuck in WUSF's Tampa performance studio to talk about why he prefers composing to performing.
