Sports Commission Wins in Budget
![]() |
County commissioners met to try and save some of the programs that are on the chopping block because of state-mandated property tax cuts.
County libraries will still be closed for an extra hour every morning so librarians can stack their own books. But construction will go on for two libraries, in North Tampa and Seffner. And one new fire station will be built on Turkey Creek Road.
But while all these cuts were going on, commissioners voted to bump up the amount of money given to the agency that attracts new sporting events. Commissioners said they need to keep pumping dollars into an agency that actually makes money for the county.
