TAMPA -
Florida's public universities have already absorbed a 4 percent cut across the board and are preparing to trim another 10 percent if needed this academic year.
Yet, the Board of Governors is considering requesting a 2 percent increase in funding for next year.
University System Chancellor Mark Rosenberg says the emphasis will be on graduation rates and increasing the number of advisors and instructors.
Next year's budget will lack at least one item. There will be no request for a tuition hike. That's because the board believes it already has the authority over tuition.
