Crist Stumps for Super Exemption
Veronica Greco says she pays $670 a year for property taxes. But the Tampa woman says she can't sell her home, because of the potential tax burden for a buyer. Greco says they would end up paying more than $4,000 a year.
So her home was the setting for the rollout of an organization dedicated to passing the 'super homestead exemption,' which will be on the ballot in January. The organization is made up of Realtors and several business groups.
But opponents say if Florida's 3 percent cap on property tax increases is repealed, taxes could once again creep up to intolerable levels.
