Jolting Juvenile Detention

TAMPA -
The Blueprint Commission was created by Florida's Department of Juvenile Justice in response to trends. Those include the numbers of repeat juvenile offenders and growing numbers of minorities and girls in the juvenile justice population.
Two representatives of Missouri's Division of Youth Services address the board yesterday. They described programs that spread out the number of facilities, with each handling fewer than 25 offenders.
The Blueprint Commission will hold one more public hearing in Pensacola before giving their recommendations to the governor and Legislature.
