State Song Finalist Selected

The song's author, Jan Hinton, was born in England. The Pompano Beach woman thought enough of her adopted home to pen 'Florida, Where the Sawgrass meets the Sky.'

Hinton's song was sung by the King High School Pride Choir at today's meeting of the Florida Music Educators Association in Tampa. In an Internet poll, it beat out more than 200other songs that were submitted to Just Sing, Florida. That contest is a creation of the educators association and two state lawmakers, who will present the song to the legislature as a possible replacement for Old Folks at Home.
