Q&A with Kiri Te Kanawa
Soprano Kiri Te Kanawa is known the world over for the purity of her sound and the beauty of her singing voice. She is perhaps most closely associated with her interpretation of Giacomo Puccini's aria 'O mio babbino caro' from the opera 'Gianni Schicchi.' Te Kanawa grew up singing in her family home in New Zealand, but she tells WUSF's Susan Giles Wantuck, she didn't seriously consider singing as a career until she began to study in London. Kiri Te Kanawa is singing at the Tampa Bay Peforming Arts Center this Saturday night.
