West Tampa Welcomes Museum

TAMPA -
After lording over its prime location on the Hillsborough River, the Tampa Museum of Art has temporarily decamped to a more working-class neighborhood - historic West Tampa.
As their old museum falls to the wrecking ball, they're moving into a building once described as the 'Jewel of West Tampa.' The ornate Centro Espanol was built before World War I. It's a soaring edifice of red and yellow brick, curved archways and floor-to-ceiling windows crowned with semi-circles of stained glass.
But it's so much smaller that the museum had to place 7,500 objects from their collection in storage.
