The occasional rain storm has popped up in Polk County, but not many. Lawns are turning brown, and a few wildfires have ignited.
The scant rainfall isn't threatening the drinking water reserves right now, but it is taking a toll on the landscape. The Peace River system is critically dry right now. Polk County is following a one-day-a-week lawn watering schedule, and that won't be changing any time soon.
