Wetlands Protection Spared
![]() |
TAMPA -
Last year, local developers were pressing Hillsborough County Commissioners to do away with the Environmental Protection commission. Their beef was that stringent protection of wetlands was preventing them from developing their land as they saw fit. So a compromise was reached - regulation on wetlands would be eased - somewhat - while environmental regulators were allowed to continue to do their job.
Commissioners - who act as the EPC board - voted unanimously to accept this so-called 'hybrid' solution.
