Tampa Foreclosures Targeted
Earlier this year, Congress voted to battle the foreclosure epidemic with an infusion of cash: $91 million to the state of Florida, and $19 million to Hillsborough County. Now, Tampa officials announced where they'll spend their $13 million allocation. The money will be focused on two areas hard hit by foreclosures: Sulphur Springs and West Tampa. About 80 foreclosed properties will be bought, and they'll be either rehabilitated or demolished.
Officials say much of the money will be used in tandem with social service agencies to keep people who are facing foreclosure in their homes.
