Zoo Director Ready to Make Amends

TAMPA -

Lex Salisbury chose three days before his upcoming meeting with the Lowry Park Zoo board of directors to air his side of the story. His attorney, Robert McKee, says some of the transactions outlined in a city audit have the appearance of being inappropriate. The audit said Salisbury took animals and materials that belonged to the zoo for his private enterprises.

Salisbury didn't appear at the press conference. McKee says Salisbury prefers to address board members directly.

McKee said Salisbury would also be prepared to resign, if asked to do so by the board. Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio is recommending just that.
