Swine Flu Shutters 3 Schools

TAMPA (2009-05-03) -

The schools that will be closed are Freedom High School and Wilson and Liberty middle schools. The schools will be closed all week while they are thoroughly cleaned.

Doug Holt is director of the Hillsborough County Health Department. He says blood samples from five people - who range in age from 11 to 22 - are likely to show positive for swine flu and have been sent to federal laboratories. He says the virulent nature of the outbreak prompted the school closings.

Officials say none of the five people have been hospitalized, and are recovering. Three cases have been confirmed in Florida, and another suspected case has been reported in Pinellas County.
