USF Vets to Get Helping Hand
An accord signed between USF and the Department of Veteran's Affairs is the first such agreement signed to provide offices dedicated to supporting returning troops who enroll in classes under the new GI Bill.
Admiral Patrick Dunne is the VA's undersecretary for benefits. He says having a service representative on campus can be crucial for veterans who sometimes have different backgrounds than students who have been enrolled in school continuously.
The new GI Bill will take effect in the fall. It pays veterans tuition, fees, and money for housing and books when they enroll in college.
