Haley VA to Get $22 Million
The federal appropriations bill contains $22 million for the hospital, which is the busiest VA center in the nation. About $10 million will be used to renovate Haley's polytrauma unit - which served soldiers wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Tampa Congresswoman Kathy Castor announced the funding. But the biggest reaction she got was when she told people who try to park at the hospital's notoriously crowded parking lots that $3 million will be used to build a new parking facility.
The money will be used to buy land next to the hospital. It will complement a new parking garage that will be built next to the center.
