TAMPA -
Imagine leading a convoy of 100 new drivers as they navigate 7-ton trucks through the crowded and narrow streets of the capital city of Afghanistan. That was Senior Master Sgt. Rex Temple’s most recent mission.
The Tampa airman talked with WUSF’s Bobbie O’Brien about the challenges of escorting 400 new Afghan soldiers to their new posting. They'd just graduated from boot camp and had been assigned to a base east of Kabul.
WUSF is following Temple during his yearlong deployment in Afghanistan. You can hear more stories from the frontlines on our special news report page and read Temple's blog Afghanistan: My Last Tour.
