Tampa to Receive More Haitians Injured by Earthquake

| The flights of injured Haitians, such as this unidentified girl, had been halted amid confusion between state and federal officials. |
Regular flights of injured Haitians are set to begin arriving in Tampa Tuesday, according to Nick Cox, Suncoast Regional Director of the Florida Department of Children and Families.
Cox says the flights are expected every other day, carrying anywhere between 5 and 10 injured Haitians.
The area has already received about 100 patients injured by the earthquake for medical treatment. But the flights were halted earlier this month amid confusion over who would pay for their care.
Several area hospitals have agreed to treat the patients. The federal government has assured state officials they will be reimbursed for the cost of care.
The flights will alternate between Tampa and Atlanta. Prior to this, most injured Haitians were taken to Miami or Orlando.
