Just how prepared is the Tampa Bay area if the Gulf oil spill begins creeping closer to our coast?
WUSF's Steve Newborn talks about the possible containment and cleanup with two key players in the effort: Coast Guard Commander Sean Reilly, the deputy incident commander in charge of the West Coast of Florida; and George Henderson of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. He is the state's scientific coordinator for any spills off Florida's west coast.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is holding an emergency meeting Wednesday morning to talk about the agency's response to the oil spill. The meeting is at the Tradewinds Island Resorts, beginning at 10 a.m.
