Q&A With Dan Rather

ST. PETERSBURG (2010-08-31) -
He made his name doing live reporting from Vietnam and from the front lawn of the White House during the dark days of Watergate. Then, he succeeded Walter Cronkite as the anchor of the CBS Evening News, while appearing on the newsmagazine "60 Minutes." These days, Dan Rather has his own investigative show on the cable channel HDNet.
Rather appeared Tuesday night at the Poynter Insitute in St. Petersburg. WUSF's Steve Newborn caught up with him before his speech, and Rather says the consolidation of the companies that control the majority of the news flow in the country is a threat to our democracy.
