Oil Spill in the Gulf: WUSF's Continuing Coverage

WUSF made a major commitment to covering the oil spill in the Gulf from day one. We produced 120 separate stories for radio and the Web, and 7 half-hour specials.

Our reporting was deep, thorough and engaging – from the fishermen and hotel owners whose business was hurt, to the marine scientists thrust into the limelight.

We focused on the economics, politics, and the human impacts. And we concentrated on science, because of the important role played by the University of South Florida’s College of Marine Science in studying the spill’s likely path, scope, and impact on fish and wildlife.
