Occupy USF Students Protest Tuition Hike

Students in the Occupy USF movement continued to protest Thursday after spending the night in front of Cooper Hall on the USF Tampa campus.
Students marched to the Patel Center Wednesday to protest a recent 15 percent tuition hike. USF officials listened to the students' concerns and agreed to meet again later.
But that wasn't the end. Students continued their protest through the night, even when University Police paid a visit.
Junior Mike Targ said University Police welcomed the protesters, unlike the arrests that happened during Occupy Tampa.
“The one of the police officers even told us, he said, 'I don't want to be a part of Tampa Police Department, even if I'm making more money, because I don't want to have to deal with these, these laws that, that are gonna affect peaceful people,’” Targ said.
The University Police said as long as the students didn't sleep, they could stay as long as they wanted to.
