From Weeki Watchee to Saving Lives in Haiti: Paul Farmer
![]() |
TAMPA (2011-12-9) -
Paul Farmer grew up in Weeki Wachee and now operates "Partners in Health," a medical organization in Haiti.
He's not just a doctor, though. He's also an anthropologist, author and the UN deputy special envoy to Haiti. It's no wonder Farmer was honored with an Honorary USF Doctorate in Humane letters at commencement ceremonies.
WUSF talked with Farmer from the Tampa Bay History Center just before he was set to speak to some USF students and found out he is just back from Haiti with some good news-- a recent investment conference there drew a thousand people looking to do business in the earthquake-ravaged country.
